Pnigophobia

What is Pnigophobia?

Pnigophobia is an abnormal fear.

What are the symptoms of Pnigophobia?

In the early stages of agoraphobia the sufferer may feel anxiety when away from home. However, Pnigophobia may be so severe that the sufferer refuses to leave his or her own home and becomes permanently house-bound.

Pnigophobia is the commonest of the phobias and is almost always associated with an irrational severe anxiety that something will happen for which help will not be available. Thus it commonly occurs in connection with crowds, public transport, bridges or tunnels, and often overlaps with claustrophobia or social phobias such as a fear of eating in public, public speaking, or any activity that might be a cause of embarrassment or humiliation. Such fears often induce acute panic attacks.

How can hypnotherapy help in the treatment of Pnigophobia?

Agoraphobia will usually be caused by some kind of deep-rooted and unresolved emotional issue from the suffers past, but may be triggered by, for example, continuous exposure to unhealthy stress levels. Hypnotherapy helps by creating an relaxing and safe environment for the sufferer to expore and resolve the cause of the problem while enjoying a highly relaxed and comfortable state called hypnosis. Once the emotional issues have been resolved, the agoraphobia invariably dissapears.
